Grandpa

Kong Kong, I hope your doing better now. I know its not fun being in the hospital, but we have no other choice. Once you get better, you can come home and we will throw a huge party for you, with lots and lots of buakuloak and your other favourite food that I cant spell. Then we will watch random nature documentaries to marvel and laugh at the strangeness of the world like we used to. When I teach you how to use the internet and the computer, I will update this blog frequently so that you will know whats going on still, even when I can't see you. This photo is of the lotus from mum's tempayang, and yes, it finally bloomed. This one is a bit crumpled from the storm though. I will print out a big poster of it so that you can hang it near your bed. Then your ward wont look so lonely. Miss you kong kong!

--

For the rest of the people reading this, my grandpa is in NUH with a stroke. He's doing better now, but I still worry. Kong Kong, GET BETTER SOON AND SHOW DAD THAT YOU ARE REALLY STRONG ENOUGH TO GO HOME. OKAY? EVERYONE HERE MISSES YOU.
SORROW is my STRENGTH
ANGER my DRIVE
FEAR is my SPEED
HAPPINESS my PRIZE
HONOUR sets my STANDEREDS
LOYALTY my BOUNDS
HATE defines my ALLIES
LOVE lets the soul be FOUND
FEELINGS make me HUMAN
VALUES makes us AWARE
PRIDE may make us ALOOF
BUT in our hearts, we want you to know we CARE.

PHOTODAY

Was awesome. Its so fun running around randomly taking photos with Lesley. We ran around the esplanade, Marina Barrage and Vivo city. It was a foggy and grey day, so not many colour shots, Im afraid. Challenged myself by trying something other than macro. Was an intresting experiance, and I learnt quite a lot from it. I have also discovered that I must venture out from under my rock more often. Ah well, all in all it was a good break from event coverage/ revision/ staying home and depriving myself from sleep.

I have also re-discovered the great joys of getting lost. LESLEY, ONE DAY WE WILL GO AND WORK FOR NAT GEO ADVENTURE, AND 'LETS GET LOST' WILL ONE DAY BECOME OUR CATCHPHRASE LEGALLY WITHOUT STEALING COPYRIGHT FROM SAID CHANNEL. Then, when end of years finally rolls around, we will run off overseas and let the entire world feel our wrath >)

I AWAIT OUR NEXT PHOTODAY. NEXT TIME, WE BRING MORE PEOPLE TO HELP SHARE THE FUN.

Please bear with me as I now flood this post with shots of random objects (:

(Lesley, if you actually read this, can I get permission to put the shots of you up? Please and thank you. (:)

FEATURED ON THE DEVARTS

http://therealneix.deviantart.com/journal/23755910/#comments

Because TheRealNeix is just that awesome. (: Go check out his gallery!

THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SUPPORTING ME AND MY PHOTOGRAPHY FOR SO LONG, AND PUTTING UP WITH ALL MY NONSENSE FOR THAT LONG PERIOD OF TIME AS WELL.

I MUST EAT PANADOL NOW.

Elephants dancing on my brain. (COMPLAINPOST)

....and squishing it to mush.

This is what happens when you do too much at once. I attended the SCMUN final day yesterday to cover it, and it was really quite stressful. It was the last day, so of course they had to end with a bang. The thing that probably gave me this huge thumping headache probably was the dinner and dance. The SCMUN team really pulled out the stops on this one. It was huge. It was colourful. It was freaking loud.

Disco lights. Smoke machine. Dance music cranked up to maximum volume. Excitable teenagers in smart casual. Breeks Buffet to boot. It was one heck of a party to cover. I think my eardrums are still broken. Leaving at 9.30 at night did not help.

Sigh. I feel like I have some massive hangover. My grandma is quite convinced its tiredness. Because I cannot sleep/do math/concentrate for too long, I complain on my blog. But my sister is right for once. Complaining to the netscape does make one feel a bit better (:

1 DAY TO PHOTODAY.

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NO ONE.

Pfff. I have been jogging (GASPOHNOESJACHASGONEINSANE) and have discovered that it DOES work to a certain extent, but even thouugh my legs have gotten a bit stronger, there is this horrible thing that prevents me from going further.

Its called a STITCH.

Anyway. I've been training for my Taekwondo Blackbelt and discovered that I need more stamina for sparring. And because my sister is going to be in some triatholon or something, I have been traning with her. In the spirit of trying to find out whats going on (and avoiding doing my math paper) I did a bit of research.

What is a stitch - fitness information

Most of us have experienced a stitch at one time or another - that sudden pain just below the ribs that stops your workout in its tracks. But what causes it? And how can you stop it from happening?Almost everyone has experienced a stitch at one time or another - often during school cross country runs! It is a sudden sharp pain in your side just under your ribs that forces you to slow down or even stop, often exacerbated by not warming up properly or eating too close to exercise. But what causes a stitch? For many years there have been two main theories as to what causes a stitch. They are as follows:When we exercise hard, the body moves blood away from our organs to the limbs. One area in particular that has a reduced blood supply is the diaphragm, the muscle that separates the stomach and abdomen from the heart and lungs. It is one of the main muscles that we use to breathe, and many scientists believe that a stitch is caused by a reduction in blood supply to the diaphragm, which causes it to cramp. The other prevailing theory is that a stitch is caused by fluids which the body finds hard to digest. This causes the stomach to "tug" on the ligaments which connect it to the diaphragm.Recently, however, a new theory has become accepted as the most likely cause of this painful condition.

There is now a new theory that has become widely accepted as the most likely cause of stitches.

This theory suggests that we should look to the liver as the source of this pain. The liver is attached below the diaphragm by fibrous bands called ligaments. As we run, gravity pulls steadily downwards on the liver, stretching these ligaments.

Additionally, every time you exhale, your diaphragm pushes up, further stretching these ligaments. The combined forces cause you to experience a sharp pain in your side.So if you experience a stitch, how do you get rid of it?

There are two different remedies:

Stop running and press your hand firmly just below the pain. This should push the liver up, relieving the strain on the ligaments. Breathe in and out slowly as you do this to relax the diaphragm.

Stop running and touch your toes.

Try both and see which works for you - after pausing for a short while you should be able to run it off.And next time you head out the door, be sure to warm up, and allow time for any food to digest properly.

Well, there you have it. Its all the LIVERS fault )<

(But it filters out all the toxins in the body and de-toxifies us. and helps convert glucose into glycogen and back again. So I guess we cant really get mad at it. )

Aaaah, bio.

Time to get to my Math paper now.

Snail-slow

I just had a rather fun saturday (: My sister has 'adopted' a whole bunch of snails from somewhere, and I spent a happy hour or so baby-sitting them while she set up a tank for them. Not only are they delightfully slow, they tend to make rather good macro subjects. Only problem is that my canon has a razor-thin depth of focus for macros, so their little stalk-eyes tend to get out of focus. But besides that, I had a rather wonderful time taking their photos (:

Here are some of them :

Curiosity is a good thing. Just as long as you dont get yourself killed.

Mmmm. Flowers are yummy!
Mountains are only molehills AFTER you reach the top.
(This is a very inspirational-poster-like shot. O.O)
A completely NON-SNAIL related shot. I think the snails like eating these, tho.
If you want to comment on the photos, you can put it on the tagboard of place a comment by pressing the 'comments' button below. (: Or get yourself a devart account and comment there. Whatever.
Ahh, I feel hungrey now. Time for lunch soon, I think P:

Life is like a YoYo; it spins UP and DOWN

Life sometimes just is a complete pile of crap, and then the next minute its a bed of roses. (Roses are prickly, but they smell nice, and can be made into Bandung. But I think a bed of roses is still like sleeping on thorns.) Anyway, I noticed that everyone is so stressed nowadays, and life in general is kinda like walking on broken glass. Painful and noisy. Tis a really sad state of affairs were all in.

In an attempt to cheer myself up while taking a break from my homework( REALLY. NOT GOOFING OFF.), I discovered this rather old but brillient advert:

Lol. I need one (:

...One day someone must teach me how to link youtube vids onto blogs. Seriously. Anyone?

Photo of the post:

I love macros (: makes the world seem that bit more magical. Darndit. I need to get out more.

1 WEEK TO PHOTO RAMPAGE.

Boredem is the source of all things amusing (:

Pfff. Its been such a long time since I've had time to waste. Aaaaah, such a wonderful feeling. Not only is bio SPA done, there are no tests for next week, MARCH HOLIDAYS ARE COMING, but I also have MANAGED TO FIND A MYSTERIOUS $50 BILL hidden under my cupboard. The joys of trying to avoid homework. :P

Anyway, this blog will just be used to waste time/electricity/space and be a place for me to just plonk photos I deem worth plonking. Comments about them are always welcome. Speaking of photos....

NEXT FRIDAY. IS PHOTO DAY. SJ, LESLY, WE SHALL RAMPAGE AROUND SINGAPORE AND TAKE THE AWESOME WORLD THAT IS AROUND US. FORSOOTH, I NEED THE BREAK.

My goodness, my sister is right, blogging is still actually kind of fun. Rambling musings are most fun to put down on netscapes (:
